The Cultured Frat Boy
The Cultured Frat Boy is a digital lifestyle
magazine that assists student’s transition from
college to the real world.
About
The Cultured Frat Boy is a digital magazine that focuses on
careers, news, fashion, health, and lifestyle that assists students’ transition
from college to the real world. We help young men who want to be exceptional,
unique, successful, and highly productive members of our new modern society. We
believe in what we call the 21st Century Man. In recent years the perception of
being a man has been confused by society. Young Men are portrayed as lazy and
unproductive who are stuck with childish qualities well into their adult lives.
The Cultured Frat Boy helps young men in their formative years find and use
valuable information that can lead young men into becoming successful young
adults. We strongly believe that such a transitional guide is missing for
young men on the digital lifestyle magazine circuit as well as the print
magazine circuit. Traditional men’s magazines focus on extravagant tastes that
most young men can’t afford and more importantly the focus is put more on men
who have already “made it.” They forget to mention and educate how a new
generation of young men should strive to become successful like men mentioned
on the glossy front page covers. However, we are trying to assist this young
generation of men simply find ways to improve themselves that will lead them to
find themselves. Our goal is to become a useful tool that young men in college,
young professionals, or even men well into adult life can use to become better
at their jobs, find career paths, become trendsetters, entrepreneurs, and
strive to be the ideal 21st Century gentlemen. We believe that the 21st Century
man is a combination of refined gentlemen of the past in combination of
knowledge and tastes of the modern super-fast paced world that a modern man
lives in today.
TCFB is made up of many different departments. The CEO is
the head of all decisions for the site, events, and advertising. There are also
TCFB Writers, the number of writers always fluctuates due to several different
reasons usually regarding school commitments. One person runs the TCFB Writers
group by making sure article assignments are assigned before a certain date and
received before a certain date. This creates a very organized environment for
the staff members, including writers as well as those who post the articles.
When posting articles online we need to make sure that they
are able to be located on your typical Google search so we use a method called
SEO, Search Engine Optimization. There are two or three people who control SEO
by going through each article on the website and “tagging” key words so these
articles will show up in a search engine. Our Social Media and Marketing Intern
makes daily posts on all the social media sites for the website while
interacting with other social media users.
Social Media
Being a digital magazine we strive on social media as do
many other companies today. We post articles and local deals on our main site
everyday. Since we target college students and recent college graduates our
social media posting revolves around their schedules. TCFB is on Twitter,
Facebook, Linked In,
Pintrest, and Google Plus. We know that most college students or recent graduates with new jobs won’t be on their Facebook, Twitter and Pintrest until night. Although we post all day we post most frequently at night starting around 8 or 9 p.m. Many students who have just graduated or about to graduate may check their LinkedIn accounts a bit more frequently than other young adults. Being connected to these people is important to us because they can see the work we have established and even become part of our team.

CEO/Founder
Khwaja Navil is the Founder and CEO of TCFB. He is currently a student at Buffalo State College and was a student there in 2011 when he created the site. Navil has made all the connections that exist in the company today. He has spent time researching ways to improve the magazine socially, visually and professionally. Everything that Navil has learned through his research his shares with his co-workers to improve all everyones work methods. Navil believes researching others methods to see all the options of how we can build will benefit us in the long run and he enjoys time spent doing so.
History
Originated in Buffalo, New York in December 2011 The
Cultured Frat Boy was a little digital magazine created by a college student
and a few friends at Buffalo State College. After teaming up with NxtArrows the
website started to get off of its feet. There is a little office in The
Electric Tower in downtown Buffalo for employees to have meetings and work
whenever needed. In December 2012 we had a one year anniversary party at
Ashkers Juice Bar in Buffalo and landed with a better turn up than expected.
Being that a lot of the employees at TCFB are from Buffalo State College our
message spread quite quickly. In the past year things have drastically changed for the site. Relationships have been built with companies that have benefitted us greatly and they continue to grow today. Aside from actually going to our website and social media sites there was no way to be able to find out what our company is all about. Recently we teamed up with a photographer/videographer who helped us create and informational YouTube video that has been spread around the social media and can be searched in google.
